They Not Like Us

Updated: Feb 19

There is a new coined phrase which says “They not like us”.   What does that mean in this day and time?  Well, it depends on who is saying it, who it is being spoken to and the reference of conversation.  And, it has nothing to do with crip-walking but everything to do with Faith-Walking”.

How do we, Faith-Walkers, handle the news that our job is being terminated? That our health test reveals that there is a concern?  Our relationships are gone awry? Our money looks funny? The threat that we may lose all that we have worked for?  Or any other life changing circumstances that makes us uneasy. How do we deal with that?

Since we are Faith-Walkers, let’s use our “Faith-Walker’s Guide” to explain why we are different!

Out of many scripture references let’s choose 2 Corinthians 4:7 (NIV)   which reads: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.”  (Remember we are clay) And know that "surpass" in the Bible often relates to the idea of exceeding or going beyond a certain standard, measure, or expectation. This verse means God is filling us (continuously) with the unmeasurable power to stand up to anyone and to conquer anything without fear! The power to sustain and prosper!

 Furthermore, 2 Corinthians 4:8-9(NIV)

We are hard pressed on every side, BUT we are NOT crushed.

We are perplexed, BUT we are NOT in despair.

We may be cast down, BUT we are NOT destroyed.

We may be bruised or battered, BUT we are NOT broken.

Faith-Walkers are who we are. We walk by faith and NOT by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

They Not Like Us!

Who are they? They are Sight-Walkers!

They are the ones who are crushed by concerns of family issues and worried about maintainig the necessities of life.

They are the ones who are in despair when unwarranted and unexplainable situations arise and oppress them.

They are the ones who are cast down and feeling defeated when times get hard.

They are the ones who are feeling beat up because of daily stresses and because “Life Be Life’n.

That's why we say….. “They Not Like Us”.

In this day and time, these verses which been passed on to us by Paul take on an enhanced meaning because of all that is going on in this world today.  And because current times seem to feel eerie and intentional, we must tap into our internal power to survive.  The same power that allowed our ancestors and forefathers to pave the way for us.

This treasure allows us Faith-Walkers to stand tall with our feet flat on the ground, with strength in our legs, our backs straight and our heads up in the face of adversity and deliberate actions against us.  And because we can boldly stand with gratuitous power, we embolden ourselves to stand against our enemies.

Hence, let’s keep our heads on a swivel and be ready.  As 1 Peter 5:8-9 (NIV) reads, “Be alert and of sober mind (meaning vigilant, self-control, and spiritual clarity). Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of suffering(s)”.  Meaning, Faith-Walkers around the world, we are empowered with the treasure of God’s power within us which gives us the strength to stand in the face of uncertainty and adversity, knowing that God will never leave us nor forsake us!

Because of our exorbitant amount of God-given power and our Walk of Faith we can truly say “They Not Like Us”!   God will continuously refill us just as it reads in Isaiah 40:31(NIV)   “But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.””

I am glad we (Faith-walkers) are not like them (sight-walkers).

I am proud to be a Faith-walker. Hebrews 11:6 - But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
